About

I've always had what you'd call a healthy appetite. Second helpings? Yes please. Dessert? Definitely. I may have a rather on-off relationship with my kitchen, being more of a socialite than a regular user of those oh-so-pretty recipe books lined up on the worktop, but my fondness for a dinner out has never wavered. A meal out can all too often be a spur of the moment bite to eat, but I think it should be treated with a certain amount of reverence: my six year old self clearly thought so, given the fact that my best party dress came out for trips to the local Italian restaurant.

After moving back to Oxford and ceasing to be a Brit abroad, it seemed only right that my latest blogging initiative should revolve around my second love (after travel): food.

So, in April 2011 I decided to give myself one year to try out as many of Oxford's eateries as an editor's salary allows, and to share one restaurant review a week with you. Gastro pubs, cafes, curry houses, pizza parlours: I left no cuisine untested in my mission to eat my way around Oxford and report back with the results. From May 2012, after over a year of eating my way around the city, I decided to scale back my reviews to one per fortnight.

From 29 July 2011 until August 2012, I also appeared on Jo Thoenes's afternoon show on BBC Radio Oxford once a month.

Please get in touch with restaurant suggestions: you can email me, tweet me @girleatsoxford or Facebook me.

2013 update: I'm now back in Madrid, and won't be updating Girl Eats Oxford. Please browse my existing reviews, and search for other Oxford food blogs to find more up to date information. Thanks for reading!
